The cabin is located on 10 acres of first generation / young forest and neighbors millions of acres of private and state working forest lands. So, just outside the front door there are plenty of places to walk and hike in the woods. On the property we have created several marked trails. On the neighboring pivate forest land there are open access trails. And, in the state land there are hundreds of miles of unused and inaccessible logging roads available for you to explore.

You can also venture to one of the nearby state parks or Olympic National Forest.

Local Restaurants

Elma is home to many small restaurants and more are to be found in Montesano, Olympia, and Aberdeen. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Rusty Tractor Restaurant (Elma)
  • El Ranchon Mexican Restaurant (Elma)
  • Rediviva Restaurant (Aberdeen)

The cabin is near two area casinos:

  • Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, Washington is about 30 minutes to the Southeast
  • Little Creek Casino in Shelton, Washington is about 30 minutes to the East

Both provide excellent slot machines, table selections, and restaurants. The Lucky Eagle is the significantly larger of the two and provides live entertainment including weekly live bands, concerts, UFC fights, and a variety of other shows.

Grays Harbor Raceway

The raceway is located at the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds in Elma and hosts a weekly sprint, modified, stock, and midget races on Friday and Saturday nights April through October. During the season the track is visited by the ASCS Nationals and World of Outlaw tours.

Grays Harbor Fairground

The fairground hosts events year round and a quick schedule check is always recommended when you stay at the cabin. In the summer is the Grays Harbor Fair, swap meets, dog shows, and rodeo. In the winter there are holiday bizzares and community events.

Visiting Olympia

Olympia is around 30 minutes to the East of the cabin. As the state capital and a city of almost 50,000 people there are plenty of things to see and do. You can visit the state capital grounds, check out Evergreen State College, fly by the Olympic Flight Museum, drop by the farmers market, or take the kids to the amazing Hands On Children’s Museum. If you are from out of the area you should most certainly spend a day in Olympia.
